Tips & Advice for a Successful Trash the Dress Session

Trashing your dress is on trend right now and provides couples with a unique and often exotic edge to their wedding portfolio.
Only one major issue should be considered before you decide to trash your dress at your Destination Wedding…
If you plan on jumping into the ocean in your gown, with layers and layers of luscious fabric, remember this is the same dress that has to travel home with you. So I wouldn’t suggest a trash the dress session if you are leaving on a jetplane the next day – unless you want to pay a hefty price tag for your dress to be laundered at the resort with next day service… and even so, there are no guarantees. It is likely that a wedding dress is not something they will be wanting to take on in-house, and must send it out thus, taking even more time.
Depending on the number of layers your gown has, it could take up to 3 days to fully dry. The Caribbean & Mexico are hot, humid, and tropical. If your swimsuit can sometimes take 24 hours, imagine how long your dress will take?!? Your destination wedding photographer will likely have more details on what options are available for your dress in your location so be sure and check with him or her prior to travel.
Of course… you don’t have to trash your dress in the ocean. There are plenty of other unique locations surrounding any hotel in the tropics. We especially love how this couple stepped into the jungle with their wedding attire…
